On Wednesday May 21, dr. Mikaela Dell’Oro will have a presentation entitled “Radiobiological Modelling of Normal Tissue Complication Probability and Secondary Cancers in Pediatric Cranial Tumors Following Proton and X-Ray Therapy”.
Dr. Dell’Oro previously worked clinically as a Radiation Therapist at the new Royal Adelaide Hospital whilst completing her PhD. Her PhD thesis incorporated biological, physical, and mathematical dose modelling into computer-based simulations to investigate the influence of age, sex and radiosensitivity on long-term side effects of paediatric patients undergoing proton therapy. After completing her PhD, she relocated to Western Australia to work as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Australian Centre for Quantitative Imaging team at The University of Western Australia. Her research program extended from radiation oncology to nuclear medicine, theranostics, and the clinical translation of machine learning for patients with advanced cancer.
